Today we have been focusing on radio adverts and how to make them effective. We discussed what we find interesting in an advert like celebrity endorsement and comedy which then helped us to come up with our ideas to make our adverts the best. We were put into groups and given a theme that our advert should be based on, ours was “sport”. We wanted our advert to be different and remembered so we decided to advertise Pollo. We based it on 2 older upper class women discussing an offer for new members but then added a comedic twist at the end to make our audience laugh. In this lesson we were given a product, “Komuteez” which are shoes you wear to school/work and then can fold up and clip using the USP of the K clip to hold them together. We were given the task to make a 30 second radio advert to advertise the shoe. I liked this task as we got to work in groups and as well as us having fun we learnt how to be productive and work as a team to produce something successful.

For the first hour of this lesson we went into the radio studio to record our 30 second radio advert for a new product, “Komuteez”. I thought it went really well because we managed to do it in just 3 takes! We still need to edit it as there was a lot of talking in between each take as we were thinking of ways to improve our advert.

In this lesson we learnt about Radio Clocks. This is what they use on the radio to show the times of when everything happens on the show. From the adverts to the feature shows to the news, this is an easy and effective way to show the plan of the show in detail minute by minute. We then created our own 1 hour shows in pairs and I worked with Lauren. We decided our show was going to be chart based aired on a Friday from 5-6pm when everyone is coming home from work at the weekend. We thought a chart based show would be good as at this time of day people
